Daily Scripture Study Helps

Every year we have the best intentions to read our scriptures as a family. We get through the first week or so and then life takes over and we're spotty at best. This year I decided to keep it in the front of our minds by keeping it in the front of our eyes.

I decorated an 8x10 page that says "Today's scriptures" and put it in a cute frame. I use a dry erase marker to update where we are in the scriptures and we hung it in our family room right by the TV. We have stilled missed a few days here and there, but it is easy to get back on track. We are currently right where we have set a goal to be and it feels great!!!

If you're looking for a great scripture reading schedule check out this book. You can read all the standard works in a one year or a two year schedule. Just write in your dates and you never have to "remember" where you should be in the scriptures.

And while we're on the topic of scripture study, I found this WONDERFUL website on Pinterest. She has the most comprehensive study guides for navigating a family through the scriptures. She is a seminary teacher and you can tell she really loves her job! I am inspired by her devotion to the scriptures and have really enjoyed the page titles, commentary and maps. I hope you find them useful too. You can access her site here.

No fuss new neighbor treat

I was looking for something I could have on hand (or buy quickly) that I could give to new neighbors or new church members without having to bake something. (I love to bake, but sometimes I'd put off a welcome until I had time instead of going over right away). So who doesn't love chips and salsa?!

Manly key identifier

The keys to our front door and our side door look EXACTLY alike. And it's no fun to stand in the freezing cold and fumble with the right key. So I adapted the GLITTER idea that I did for my keys to my husbands set of keys.

Instead of putting on glitter and sealing with clear polish, I just used semi-manly colors of nailpolish. Purple for porch and Blue for breezeway. He never forgets which key to use!

Family Portrait Pillow

This is what my daughter, Bay, gave me for Christmas!! She is so talented!! I pinned a family portrait pillow on Pinterest and she used her artistic skills to make it for me! She's been making these little stick figures of our family for years and now I have it forever on a pillow! I LOVE it!!

This is where she got the idea from. On Pinterest via here.

10-Year Journal

This is a 10 year journal! There are 366 (add one for leap year!) index cards with each day stamped in the corner. Every day write the year and then ONE line to describe your day. There are 10 lines on each card, so when you fill this all out you will have 10 years worth of memories in this little box.

Or this little box :)
